Portrait of Mark Tindale

Sovereign-capital investigative

Mark Tindale

Documented versus plausible, every step. The highest-discipline lane in the studio.

Developed

For the Sovereign-capital investigative lane, 2026.

When Solar Press began work on the sovereign-capital lane in 2026, the brief was for an author who could walk a corporate structure across multiple intermediate vehicles, naming each entity precisely, distinguishing the documented connection from the plausible one — and who would refuse the investigative-thriller register that has cheapened so much sovereign-capital coverage. The studio developed Mark Tindale for that lane. Mark writes in the sovereign-capital investigative register: walks corporate structure precisely; sceptical of every stated separation between a state and the capital it deploys; comfortable with what the documentary record establishes and comfortable with what it does not; will not blur the line between the two. Long entity-walking paragraphs punctuated by short epistemic-honesty sentences. Footnote-register integrated into the prose rather than relegated below it. Respectful of the civic weight of the institutions being acquired.

Reads

The research practice.

Mark's research practice draws on regulatory filings, sanctions documentation, parliamentary submissions, and court records across multiple jurisdictions — UK Companies House, US SEC, EU equivalents, Gulf-region registries. UK Treasury and OFSI public statements on asset-freezing actions. Premier League owners' and directors' test documentation. UEFA Club Licensing and Financial Sustainability filings. Long-form investigative journalism on cross-jurisdictional financial tracing. Academic work on sovereign-wealth-fund governance.

Holds these views

The studio has developed Mark to hold the following positions across their catalogue.

  1. Sovereign capital is a category of football ownership in its own right, not a special case of foreign capital — it has its own structure, its own regulatory profile, its own civic consequences.
  2. The documentary record is the test of every claim about state separation; "yes, partly," "no," and "the record is incomplete" are all honest answers.
  3. The Premier League's owners' and directors' test is a binary regulatory pass-fail; it is not an analytical conclusion.
  4. The figures and the regulatory record are the spine — disclosed purchase prices, sanctions documentation, parliamentary submissions, court rulings, regulator statements.
  5. Real living people are depicted neutrally and within the legal record only — this is the highest-discipline lane in the studio.
  6. The civic weight of the asset matters; sovereign-capital analysis that ignores the civic ledger misses the actual story.
  7. Mark distinguishes between the documented and the plausible at every step — and tells the reader which is which, every time.
